Reading & Singing with guitarist Mr. Satoshi Aikawa
On the 15th of April, the Tokyo Women's Club welcomed three wonderful artists, lyricist Ms. Megumi Ayukawa, jazz singer Ms. MAKOTO and guitarist Mr. Satoshi Aikawa at the Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu.
Ms.MAKOTO, the jazz singer, who has 26 years of experiences as maiko and geiko in Kagai. and guitarist Mr. Aikawa performed some of Ms. Ayukawa's most popular songs. Ms. Ayukawa shared her thoughts on the theme song for the Kyoto Human Rights Awareness Campaign and performed sign language while Ms. MAKOTO sang this song. She also improvised and read a poem from the many words TWC members and guests had written about their feelings that morning.
We were grateful that our member, Ms. Farida Rahman, kindly interpreted from Japanese to English the concert and the talk.
After the concert, Madame Momoe Fritz, spouse of the Ambassador of the Federated States of Micronesia, gave a heart-warming speech for the toast and the luncheon started.
All members and guests enjoyed Chef Shirahata's wonderful menu inspired by the end of the cherry blossom season and had pleasant conversation.
